About Mod Ghlaschu | Royal National Mòd

‘S e Am Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail prìomh fhèis na Gàidhlig, a’ comharrachadh cànan ‘s cultar na Gàidhlig ‘s a’ cruthachadh chothroman dhan mhòr-shluagh pàirt a ghabhail ann am farpaisean òrain Ghàidhlig ‘s ciùil, dannsadh Gàidhealaich, dràma, spòirs agus litreachais. Ged as ann stèidhichte air farpaisean a tha e, tha e cuideachd a’ tabhachd tachartasan neo-fharpaiseach air Iomall a’ Mhòid a bhios a’ gabhail a-staigh nan seinneadairean ‘s luchd-ciùil as fheàrr ann an Alba agus a’ taisbeanadh cànan ‘s cultar na Gàidhlig tro cheòl, dannsa, dràma, ealain agus litreachas. Tha am Mòd cuideachd na chothrom bhliadhnail do Ghàidheil ‘s Ghall cruinneachadh ri chèile gus càirdeas a dhaingneachadh ‘s dàimhean ùra a neartachadh. The Royal National Mòd is Scotland’s premier festival celebrating its Gaelic linguistic and cultural heritage and provides opportunities for people of all ages to perform across a range of competitive disciplines including Gaelic Music and Song, Highland Dancing, Instrumental, Drama, Sport and Literature. Although the focus is on competition, the event also offers a wide and comprehensive programme of non-competitive “Fringe” events which regularly include performances from some of Scotland’s top traditional musicians and Gaelic singers. In addition to providing a national and international platform for promotion of the Gaelic language and culture, the Mòd also represents an annual opportunity for Gaels and non-Gaels to gather and renew old friendships as well as forging new ones.
